ARE THERE TOXINS IN YOUR KIDS TOYS & FURNITURE?

IMG_4995

A study of more than 1,500 popular children’s toys, conducted by The Ecology Center, one in three toys were found to contain medium or high levels of chemicals of concern including: lead, cadmium, arsenic, flame retardants, and polyvinyl chloride (PVC).7

Many of these chemicals have been linked to cancer, fertility issues, thyroid disruption, and developmental problems, including brain damage and lower IQ, in children. The study revealed alarming levels of toxic compounds in toys that children commonly put in their mouths, sleep with, and handle daily.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR INSTEAD…

NATURAL FOOD SAFE FINISHES Are safe for ingestion: Such as the Beeswax & Hemp Oil that we use on all our kids toys.

ZERO VOC’S Zero-VOC means 100% non-toxic.    What are VOCs? Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) are emitted from various products such as paints, solvents, household cleaners, and pesticides.  They include a variety of toxic chemicals such as arsenic, benzene, and formaldehyde.

NATURAL WOOD Manufactured wood (such as plywood and particleboard)  contains formaldehyde-based glues.  Plastic furniture can contain PVC.

“When my niece Addison was born I started thinking about the potential toxins in her toys & furniture & what I could make her instead. She is the reason we created our Kids Eco  Heirloom Quality Furniture & products with Natural Zero-VOC finishes.” -JEFF BAKER
